Raindance AI duet for couples, friends and siblings

The duet is the original shape of the Raindance AI trend: two people, two photos, one short video. One person waits on the pier and the other sings to them. This page covers who is usually cast in which role, and how the format changes for couples, best friends and siblings.

How the duet works

You upload one photo for Person 1, who waits on the pier, and one for Person 2, who sings. The generator puts them into the same scene without either person needing to be in the other photo. The result is a vertical 9:16 video of about 12 seconds at 720p.

The photos are processed separately, which matters if the two of you are far apart. A long-distance couple or two friends in different countries can make the same video as people standing side by side.

Who waits and who sings

The waiting role is quieter. That person looks out over the water and the clip builds toward them. The singer has the close-ups and the direct address to the camera.

People tend to decide in one of three ways. If the video is a gift, the recipient is often the one waiting and the sender is the singer, as if they are saying it to them. If it is a joke between friends, the more dramatic friend usually takes the singing role. If you honestly cannot decide, make both versions and post the one you prefer. A second video costs a credit, so the free preview is a good place to compare photos first.

Couples

The classic version. One partner waits, the other sings, and the clip ends with the two of them together in the evening light. Here is a couple example.

Best friends

The same scene with a lighter tone. Friends often pick the funniest photos of each other, and the result is meant to be sent in a group chat. Here is a best friends example.

Siblings and family

Brothers and sisters make duets for birthdays and surprises. Adult relatives can also take part, as long as each person has agreed and each photo shows one adult. More clips are on the Raindance AI examples page.

Scenes and sound

A duet works in all three scenes. Golden-hour pier is the default. Rain on the pier adds a transparent umbrella and the light after the rain, which suits a more romantic mood, as covered on the rain on the pier page. Reception lights moves the pair to a night-time outdoor party with string lights and a dance floor, which suits the wedding and anniversary page.

For sound, the video sings an original song by default. You can also pick Silent and add the Raindance sound inside TikTok or Reels. If you do not want to be in it alone, see the solo Raindance AI page.

Duet questions

Who should wait on the pier and who should sing?

There is no rule. Many people give the waiting role to the person the video is for, and the singing role to themselves. Swap the photos if you want the opposite.

Do the two people need to be photographed together?

No. Each person has their own photo, so you can make a duet even if you live in different cities.

Does the duet work for friends and siblings?

Yes. Couples are common, but best friends and brothers and sisters make it all the time.

Can I use photos of two adults only?

Both photos must show one adult each. Celebrity photos are not allowed.

What if I only have one photo?

Choose Solo instead. The same person plays both roles.
